Itsy Bitsy Spider....

Poppet had her cousins 3rd Birthday party at the weekend.  The theme was 'Garden Party' and mummy somehow got her wires crossed and thought it was dress up!  I'd already made a costume and after coming to the conclusion that 9 months was too young to be traumatised by mum sending to party in fancy dress(when not fancy dress!), plus the birthday girl was supposed to be dressing up.... we decided to do dress up and her she is..... Itsy Bitsy Spider....

Here is a shot of what I used to make the costume....

Just stuffed the socks($1.25 ea from T & T) and sewed across top.  Take a piece of thread through the knee area and pull in slightly, knot.  This gives more definition, like a cabbage patch doll.  I also did a running stitch behind knee, taking from about 1cm above and below where tied knot from dimple, pull this to create a bend in knee.  Put some shoes on.  Sew two either side of onesie.  When onesie  is on you can put extra socks on your babys legs, plus shoes.  We also put on her arms briefly, but it really annoyed her, understandably.  There you have it, one little spider!

Have a great day,

Sarah

  2. Thanks! I did have someone wonder if she was lying on top of another baby... I wouldn't put it passed her to crawl right on over.
