WIN a planter...

After blogging about my new found love of house plants, Summer, our recently crawling 9 month old, discovered she loved them too!  Dirt everywhere and my much loved (and quite large) fiddle leaf fig on top of her, it may be time to raid missmollycoddle for some wall planters and hangers!

You can WIN yourself a hanger (before I nab them all) right here, or buy one here.  They also come in a gorgeous mint and classic black.

For more plant inspiration, check out my pinterest board - HOME indoor plants.

Best of luck x

Shop news!

So... the big Free Shipping debate!  What to charge for shipping in a world where everyone wants it for free (inluding moi)?  It's something I've spent ALOT of time thinking about and investigating and have come to the following conclusions...

* It's not usually all it seems.  Knowing wholesale prices and RRP for quite a few products I stock, or I've seen elsewhere, I've noticed that shipping is often incorporated into the retail price when it's claimed it's "free shipping".  Fine if you're just buying one item, not so fine if you're buying a few, as you may end out paying more for shipping than if it was added at checkout.

* I don't how (or for how long?) those that do truly offer free shipping can do so on smaller cost items where the mark up is minimal?  Some of my items are less than the cost of shipping, others not much more, so these I would no longer be able to stock and they're some of my favourites and going by sales, YOURS too!

* I want to provide a variety of products, in a variety of price ranges, so for this reason alone, free shipping is not an option.

So, where to from here?  In order to continue to stock my popular lower priced items (we have heaps of great gift ideas under $30) and to reward you for buying more, I've decided to cap the shipping charge at $5. This will cover the cost for smaller items and I'll cover the difference when more is spent.  We'll see how this goes and if it proves popular, it will become a permanent feature on MissMollyCoddle. Happy shopping everyone!

We've got a fabulous range of hooks coming to our store later in March.  We're the only New Zealand stockist, so get in quick to avoid disappointment.  I know how hard it is to find cute kids hooks and ended out spending a fortune on international shipping to get some for Eden's room, so I was very excited to find these for you.  What's your favourite?

A little while back we reached a milestone on facebook and I promised a giveaway.  Pop on over to my facebook page and follow the instructions for entering (NZ only sorry), you can enter 3 times, winner announced tomorrow evening.

Winter coats will be making their way back into our online store late March/early April, so keep an out. Most are one of a kind, or very limited stock, so first in best dressed!

Last but not least, we're taking a wee Summer Autumn holiday.  Last day to place an order and have  it shipped before we leave (payment must be by paypal or deposited that day) is Thursday, I'll courier Friday at the latest.  You can still place an order while we're away, and I'll despatch it on Thursday 20th March.

Have a lovely evening.

A cuppa with... Little & Loved owner, Zoe

Welcome to a new series at MissMollyCoddle!  I've discovered some beautiful blogs and websites lately that really appeal to me as a Mother, crafter, interiors addict, and supporter of handmade, and I'll be sharing these with you, and introducing you to the clever people behind them, so put the kettle on and make yourself comfy.

I love to support small businesses, knowing first hand what a juggle it can be making/selling from home, and because a product really does mean more to me when I know a bit about the person behind it and what inspired them. In Zoe's case, it was her passion for natural, organic products for her two small children, which set the wheels in motion for a fabulous new website, Little & Loved.  This first-hand knowledge as  a mother, means Little & Loved is brimming with carefully chosen, practical, yet gorgeous products. My personal favourites are the food mill, aspirator (how many times did I wish I had one of those?), refillable pouches (genius!) and wet wipe concentrate.  Actually, I had trouble not listing the WHOLE website, so many great products, you really must check it out for yourself.  Before you do, scroll down to meet the lovely Zoe, and to find out about a giveaway she's kindly offered for fans of MissMollyCoddle and Little & Loved.

Tell us a bit about yourself...

I’m Zoe.  I’m a Mother to two adorable boys Max, 3 ¾ and Finn, 9 months.  I’m a fiancee to Ben.  I love good food, art, dreaming, photography, jewelry, clothing and cushions!  I’m happiest in the Summer time.
Where did the name Little and Loved come from?
Little & Loved was actually the first name I came up with for the company, I wrote lists of other potentials, but always came back to Little & Loved.  To me Little & Loved represents the relationship between parent and child, young and old, and immeasurable, everlasting love. Although your children will one day grow bigger and stronger than you, they will forever be your Little Loves.

What inspired you to start Little and Loved?
I have always been passionate about natural and organic products for myself.  It's become ingrained in me, it’s just a way of life.  After having Max is 2009 I became quite the online shopper!  I felt there was a gap in the market for the range that I’ve picked out.  It's a great feeling knowing that the products I sell make a difference in the world.  As well as being a full time Mother, which will always come first, I feel like I’m doing something great.
What is your favourite product?

Just one?  This is difficult! This week Finn (9 months) is cutting teeth, my boys have both cut teeth hard and fast, that has got to be tough!  I use a homeopathic teething spray with organic chamomile from Manutuke Herbs for relief.  It's brilliant!!!  It’s easy to apply, it tastes good and it is great to know that I’m using a natural product to help relieve pain and discomfort. You can find it online here.

What is a typical day for you like?
I’m up at 6am with Ben to dive into my morning coffee!  I try and squeeze in a bit of admin while the boys are having their breakfast and then we’re either off to catch up with my Mummy friends and their babes or Max is off to preschool in which case I squeeze in a work out and the shopping, which is such a breeze when I’ve only got the one in tow…
What is your ideal weekend like?
I dream of the day that I can sleep in…  until 8am.
Do you have a favourite pearl of wisdom you'd like to share with us?
My Mother has always said to make the most of having the oven on – why bake just one cake when you could bake two?
Anything else you'd like to share?
I'm so excited about the launch of Little & Loved.  There is lots in the pipelines for the website over the next year!  I can't wait to share more with you!

Isn't she lovely?  Now for the giveaway.  Up for grabs is the winners choice of either wet wipe solution, massage oil or sleep balm.  We've kept it super simple to enter, all you need to do is:

* like MissMollyCoddle
* like Little & Loved
* share this photo on facebook

Easy peasy! Be sure to leave a comment here or on the photo, so we know you're entered. If you'd like to help promote a great new business (and a lovely owner), then we'd love you to share this post on your blog or facebook.  Be sure to leave a comment telling us you've done so, and we'll give you another entry as a thanks.

Thanks so much for your support, we really do appreciate it and hope you enjoyed the read.

Have a lovely evening.

What a whopper competition! (+ a peek at my hollyhock shoes)

So I've joined forces with Stella for her mammoth GIVEAWAY! There's a pair of my shoes up for grabs and some super cute other prizes, I especially love the fox dress.  Be sure to check it out and enter, it's amazing. Have a browse through her blog while you're at it too, it's one of my favourites and if you haven't already discovered it, you'll be glad you have now.

Did you see the gorgeous piece of embroidery on my post a couple of days back?  Well here is a sweet wee pair of shoes I made from it yesterday.  Photo doesn't do them justice, it was another dreary old day, I plan to retake some photos during this brief spell of fine weather.

Have a great day x

We have a winner...

What a fantastic response to my baby shoe giveaway.  Tha nks so much to everyone that entered, and for all your kind comments.  I wish every comment could win a pair, though the thought of sewing 102 pairs truly exhausts me! I tried to respond personally to as many as possible, if I didn't to yours and your expecting (as so many were), all the best for the upcoming birth and those precious (yet challenging) first few months.  I entered loads of giveaways and am just sitting back waiting for my winning emails... and waiting... and waiting... oh well, if I don't win it was great fun discovering a whole load of new blogs, from which I'm anticipating great inspiration in the new year. I'm sure I'll be reading loads during those initial long night feeds.

I used random.org to draw the winner, number 86, Megan from mousehouse!  Congratulations Megan.  Megan has a fantastic blog, if you haven't seen it yet (you've probably seen THE doll house) you must check it out, gorgeous.   I cannot work out how to copy the number generator to post here, though I'm figuring it must be quite simple, as I see heaps of blogs have done so.

Megan said...

love the scooter shoes in your Felt shop, my hubby used to have a Vespa pre kids and Jack would look super cute wearing these. Have a lovely christmas Sarah :)

and the winner is.....

drumroll please.... Anne Wilkes! Congratulations Anne, so pleased my shoes have a new home with your wee poppet.  Thanks to all the existing and new 'likers' of missmollycoddle on facebook, and those that spread the word. Remember, I show all my new styles there, so be sure to keep an eye out.

Poppet got a new swing for Christmas, which she loves!  It can be changed to suit different ages and stages, so will no doubt get heaps of use for a long time to come.  Here is another swing (I love) for older children, that I thought I'd share with you....

What a clever idea!  I love toys built to last, wooden or handmade, but especially those made from recycled materials, usually fabric, but in this case old tyres.  They're available from the gorgeous baby website, Unique Boutique and currently have 20% off.

It looks set to be another gorgeous day here today... I should probably continue painting the fence... though my sewing room is beckoning, gosh I wonder which will have the biggest pull?  Have a lovely day, and I hope if you're on the rummage this weekend, that you find yourselves lots of great op shop/garage sale bargains.

Sarah :)

Last day for giveaway....

Just a quick one this morning to remind you that my facebook giveaway ends today, 6pm.  All you need to do is pop over to missmollycoddle on facebook and 'like'.  Winner can choose a pair of my shoes from all currently listed and I'll post anywhere.

I bought these letters off trademe for the bargain price of $20, pretty cheap for artwork.  They're covered in Cath Kidston tissue.  Don't they look fantastic with my revamped highchair?  Poppet seems quite fascinated by them, maybe she senses the command in it!

On a more sombre note... we've been really shocked by the terrible flooding in Queensland.  Our hearts go out to everyone affected, everyone who has lost a loved one, or property.  xx

Thanks for your support and lovely comments.

Love this blog!

I've discovered a thoroughly entertaining blog, that I'd like to share with you.

The voice behind it is a very clever and witty mum of three.  She injects a great big dose of humour into the very serious job(unpaid) of parenting. I particularly enjoyed her post on 'The competitive parent', of which I am sure, I am not... for I do not need to gloat about my darlings talents/cuteness/advancedness/wellbehavedness.... it's glaringly obvious for all to see.  Plus she's bound to let me down mid sentence, with a squeal/growl/back arch!

For mothers of newborns, or in fact parents in general, her first post about dealing with difficult people, focusing on (lets all be honest) the most difficult of all, newborns, is a great read.  Oh it's all so true!

The last post I'll direct you to, you'll want to browse it all anyway, is her giveaway.  Though I'm doing this purely so i get another entry! I'm sure I'm the winner....

well I hope I'm  the winner...

would be nice to win...

Enjoy the rest of your day, I'm off to bake a first birthday cake.... hopefully it'll make amends for plomping her on the big man in reds knees, not a very jolly one either.

Sarah :)

Giveaway and Ducks

I love giveaways! I love them best when I win, which is more likely to happen if not too many people enter.... but I'm feeling kind, so will share a link to this gorgeous fabric giveaway.  She has a lovely online fabric shop, which is worth a browse if you're planning some Christmas sewing.  I have an ever growing pile of clothes that need altered/mended and a pile of baby shoes to do the final sewing on, so will try and focus on these first... though I have been sidetracked by some restoration and painting projects, will post photos soon.

Oh, and I won an auction for the cutest piece of barkcloth fabric on trademe last night...

I missed out on it a while back, I forgot the auction was closing, but it was relisted last week as the previous buyer hadn't completed the sale... yippee!!! It's 100cm x 100cm.  I'm thinking a baby blanket, maybe backed in a yellow fabric?  I don't really want to cut it up too much but I want to make something that will get heaps of use and last, any suggestions?

Well I'm sure Poppets babbling would be translated into 'would you get off that computer Mum and feed me', so must go.

Have a lovely day... and good luck with the giveaway! (Gosh, that's good of me isn't it?)

Sarah
