Almost One!

We're on the countdown to Poppet's first Birthday, which has got me thinking, not only about how fast this year has gone, but also about what I was up to this time last year.

My lovely husband had finished painting her room (we couldn't resist finding out what we were having), Mum had sewn some gorgeous pink polkadot roman blinds, I was washing, folding and admiring piles of tiny pink clothes, and doing the finishing touches on her room.

I thought I'd share a few photos for this weeks 'creative space', as we had alot of fun getting creative with her room.

The couch I had rescued from my parents garage years ago.  I stripped and painted it, relaid some wicker in an arm, my stepfather fixed the base and Mum, bless her, recovered the the base and cushions.... not a job she wishes to repeat, I'm told!  My brother put hinges on the chest for me, so the top lifts, I painted it and now it stores her bedding. The round cushions were a car boot sale score.

I made this cushion.

I got a couple of baskets from a garage sale and sewed new liners for them, from leftover curtain fabric.

I recovered her lamp to match the cushion.

I made a wee mobile with lovely pastel pink, blue and white butterflies.

and painted some fairy pictures, again in lovely pastels.

I put up my favourite flea market find, a $6 hospice shop purchase.

I made up her bed with the gorgeous quilt(in Cath Kidston style) made by my lovely cousin Mel, and draped my Cath kidston blanket over the end of her cot (a trademe purchase).

Then we waited....
