Sunflowers for Sam...

Hello again!  Yes, it's been a while, for good, and not so good reasons.  We've just got back from a lovely break away, lots of sun, coffees, beach time, family time and of course a bit of op shopping thrown in there too, what more could a girl want?  Actually there is one thing, I'd really love good health for all my precious family and friends.

Sadly the 'not so good' is we've had to say goodbye to a lovely, bubbly friend of mine who lost her battle with cancer at the far too young age of 35. Although this isn't so much a personal blog, as it is a craft one, it felt inappropriate to blether on about children's clothing without acknowledging my wonderful friend and dedicating a post to her, one of my most suppportive followers. She was an incredibly fun, caring, inspirational and much loved friend, and will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.

Sam loved sunflowers, so we grew these in Poppet's garden for her, and were able to send her a picture of them in full bloom.  I'm now collecting the seeds to grow again next year, and for many years after that.  She'll be in our thoughts always, but especially on the brightest of summer days, watching her sunflowers reach for the sky.  I think I'll plant them opposite my studio window next summer, sewing time is my thinking time and it'd be nice to watch them grow and to think of Sam.

  2. Beautiful words Sarah. I'm sure writing this blog post wasn't an easy thing to do, but it is a heart felt reminder to us readers to treasure our loved ones & be thankful for great friends.
