Introducing Ben...

Our gorgeous little bundle arrived at 4.23am on Sunday 15th January.  We're besotted, and loving having the new addition to our family.  Unfortunately there were no storks available, so a labour was unavoidable.  It was in many ways very similar to Poppets, similar length and intensity, I even had contractions at exactly the same spots on the way to hospital, which we had a wee laugh at the irony of. He was a very bonny 9lb 3oz, as opposed to Poppet's 6lb 9oz.  I lay the blame on my local cafe and it's delicious muffins!  They'll definitely be off the menu next pregnancy. Doesn't his wee quilt look cute?  Loving his vintage bassinet too, a trade me score.

We're enjoying getting to know each other and trying to catch up on some lost sleep, so no sewing yet for 2012, though feeling the creative itch again.  I just bought some gorgeous ballerina bark cloth fabric off trade me (which I LOVE) and am looking for ideas for some projects.

I'm loving my garden at the moment, in particular the hydrangeas (wedding bouquet), hollyhocks and sweet peas.  My kitchen is smelling gorgeous.  I got lucky with the colour matches too, white hollyhocks with my Unwins Royal Wedding (white) sweet peas, and a deep pink hollyhock next to some gorgeous maroon sweet peas.

I just treated myself to this gorgeous book by Holly Becker (decor8 blog) and Joanna Copestick. It's 288 pages of beautiful photographs and fantastic ideas for a super stylish home.  I love the layout.  It's divided into sections; space matters, setting your style(flea market, eclectic etc...), room by room and attention to detail.  Should  provide some inspiring reading for those (oh too frequent) night feeds.

For more 'things I'm loving' pop over here.

  1. Congratulations Sarah! and love the name (its actually my hubby's name but if it wasn't Ben would have been one of my name choices for Jack- all Ben's seem to be really nice guys :) Hope you are getting lots of rest, but more full on with 2 though isn't it! Beautiful flowers too, I am hankering after some hydrangeas at the moment- must plant some!

  10. Congratulations on your sweet little boy, Sarah!

Due to my sporadic blog reading these days I didn't catch up with the news you were expecting until just a couple of months ago! And now he is here! We too are expecting our second child - a little boy as well - and can't wait to meet him :o)

All the best for the coming days and weeks and hope your little girl is adjusting well to being a big sister (as we are hoping our little girl will too!!! :o)

    Love from the USA,
    Jennifer (Little Kiwi Chick)
